10 Ways to Kick Winters A*s!

  1. Get Outside Daily

    • Bundle up and soak in some natural daylight. Even 15 minutes of sunshine can help regulate your circadian rhythm.  And I’ll also let you in on a little secret, I use a tanning bed for about 6 minutes 2x a week from October - May.  Personally I look for one that also features built in red light therapy.

    • Bonus: Don’t want to tan? A sauna can also be a huge mood booster!

  1. Move Your Body

Incorporate daily physical activity, even if it’s just a quick home workout or a brisk walk. Movement releases endorphins, your body’s natural mood elevators. I suggest good running gloves, nose cover, and a bluetooth speaker toque. These have made a world of difference in my winter cardio.

  1. Low-Cal Versions of Your Favorite Foods

Winter is the season of comfort foods, but it doesn’t have to derail your goals. For example, try making peppermint mochas with unsweetened almond milk and sugar-free syrups, and try light whip cream. Enjoy all the cozy vibes, guilt-free!

  1. Take a Vitamin D Supplement

Winter months mean less sunlight, so a vitamin D3 supplement can help maintain energy levels and support your immune system.

  1. Prioritize Sleep

Shorter days can mess with your sleep cycle. Stick to a consistent bedtime and try calming rituals like herbal tea, ZMA or the man acid glycine before bed.

  1. Embrace Cozy Layers (and Activity)

Wear warm, comfy layers and try activities like ice skating, winter hikes, or snowboarding to make the season fun and energizing.

Bonus: Visit a local hot spring or spa!

  1. Diffuse Energizing Scents

Use essential oils like peppermint, citrus, cinnamon, or eucalyptus to wake up your senses and energize your space.

  1. Move Even More (NEAT)

Boost your energy with passive movement throughout the day. Use a standing desk, take short walking breaks, or pace during phone calls. Every step counts!

  1. Brighten Your Space (Lighting)

Beyond sunlight. Use a SAD lamp or sunrise alarm clock, and keep your lights on until 6–7 pm to fight the winter darkness. Adding multiple light sources in your home makes a world of difference. And open those window shades!

  1. Add Pops of Color

Brighten your environment with colorful decor, cozy throw blankets, or vibrant art. A little color can instantly lift your mood and make your space feel more inviting.

Winter blues? Not anymore! These simple tips will keep you moving, smiling, thriving, and maybe even losing a few pounds, through the winter. 🌟
